Trailer Hitch

I want to install a Class III trailer hitch on my 2004 Lexus RX.

I contacted a trailer company who said that it was very complicated due to the electronics involved.

Should it be as complicated as they say?

Any suggestions about who should do the installation? A trailer company or an auto service place?

You should install it yourself.

You should use a genuine Lexus/Toyota hitch since it has the electrical connection already wired if you have the "tow package" option. The Lexus hitch looks better as well.

U-Haul did the hitch install on our 05 RX330. No problems at all...the installer said that they see a lot of RX's. It's not a hard install and the wiring wasn't a problem. I did have a problem with the converter burning up but that turned out to be a short in the trailer wiring. U-Haul traced the problem.
