mea1234 Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Does anyone know how to (or if its even possible) to disable the useless requirement to hold or push in the brake to start up the engine? I know that the first push is the on position, then the acc position and finally start. To start the engine you need to hold the brake pedal, is it possible to override this or disable it? 2006 Lexus GS300
SW03ES Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Nope, you have to hold the brake down to start most modern cars.
The G Man Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 If you disable it, how would you get to on or acc position?
mea1234 Posted August 16, 2008 Author Posted August 16, 2008 If you disable it, how would you get to on or acc position? Very simple, the same way it's always done just without the brake, i presume pressing the button once for on, twice for acc, three for start. I would prefer this over having to hold the brake down or if for example a passenger was sitting in the car when I wasn't it and wanted to turn it on.
SW03ES Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 So you would want to push the button three times as opposed to holding the brake down? Just take a little time with it, it becomes second nature You shouldn't be starting a car from the passenger seat, its not safe.
The G Man Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I hope you are kidding, push the button 3 times to start the car, I dont think anybody would want that.
Step Hen Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 A hold of perhaps 2 seconds to start and a press once for on and twice for ACC might be something more desirable.
mea1234 Posted August 19, 2008 Author Posted August 19, 2008 The man above me has a great idea! ^^^^^
SW03ES Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 But its not practical. You'd have to completely re-write the software that governs how the car starts. My advice? Get used to pushing the brake when you start it.
The G Man Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 And its not intutive, if someone else drives your car, they would have no idea why it doesnt start like every other push button starts.
