Absolutely true. I got one to drive the last time my IS 250 was in for service. It is a pretty quick little SUV.

Here's what Edmunds has on the RX350:

Performance

Base Number of Cylinders: 6

Base Engine Size: 3.5 liters

Base Engine Type: V6

Horsepower: 270 hp

Max Horsepower: 6200 rpm

Torque: 251 ft-lbs.

Max Torque: 4700 rpm

Maximum Payload: 1399 lbs.

Maximum Towing Capacity: 3500 lbs.

Drive Type: FWD

Turning Circle: 37.4 ft.

... and on the IS250:

Performance

Acceleration (0-60 mph): 7.9 sec.

Base Number of Cylinders: 6

Base Engine Size: 2.5 liters

Base Engine Type: V6

Horsepower: 204 hp

Max Horsepower: 6400 rpm

Torque: 185 ft-lbs.

Max Torque: 4800 rpm

Drive Type: RWD

Turning Circle: 33.5 ft.

Lol....exactly! ;)

well in a way the logic is simple.

Basically the top brass said, sure we will give you more power. But you gotta pay for it.

It is also a business theme. The cost to produce a IS350 is probably very close to the cost of producing an is250. After all, the work flow is the same you just drop a different engine into it. You still gotta pay the worker to drop one in there. But the IS350 can be sold for 4-5 grands more.

It's not the cost of dropping the engine into the car, the 350 is different and more advanced than the 250 in many ways.

Besides, historically we've always paid more for the bigger engine option on most every car.

I just drove my first IS 250 rental the other day. No offense to you 250 guys, but I could not believe how slow that thing is. Hard to believe such a hot looking car is such a dog. I guess the 250 guys are laughing at me at the gas pump, however.

I had an IS 250 AWD for close to 10 days while parts were on order for my ES......I was disappointed in the power if I'm honest.....but it did weigh more because of the AWD system. I wonder if they will offer the 350 with AWD as an option?

I was disappointed with the Power of the 250 since I first minute test drove it, but impressed with with physical design of the car and the positive reviews. Since I drive over 100 miles a day, I had to buy the 250 rather then the 350. I never even test drove the 350 because I knew I would like it better. Also in the snow my thought was the AWD would be better (although I have read in this forum that the 350 performs well in snow)

Just yesterday I was thinking about trading up to the 350, but the $450 monthly gas bill with my 250 seems to always get in the way.

Congrats to all with the 350...watch out for state troopers though!

Plenty of SUVs are faster than the IS250. The RX350 costs a good bit more too. The IS250 is slower than the ES350 too...

Actually the IS250 is slower than the ES300 & ES330...

I don't understand the OP's issue...
