commercialbrokerage Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Hello, I bought a 1998 GS 300 with the navigation a while ago. I had some body work done to the vehicle after I bought it and never used the Navigation until now. I got an error that read "Hard Disk Error" after I popped the trunk and checked the navigation system I found out the hard drive disk was not there. I am pretty sure it was there when I dropped the car off but since I got estimates from 3 shops I am out of luck in regards to holding someone accountable. Sewell and other dealers are charging $360 for the updated (2004) hard disk, however, they are still wanting the core and charge $500 without it. Anyone have a disk I can purchase outright or any other ideas? thnx :( -R
SKperformance Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 It is hard disk based so you need the whole unit to be updated. They are on ebay all the time. It is an old and no longer supported format.
sakataj Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 your unit didn't take a upgrade disc! it took a whole hard drive i found out recently! apparently the last and final upgrade for you'll s was a 2004 upgrade! brian
sakataj Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 Last available upgrade was version 4.1 2005 ;) Oh my mistake. I thought sewell had the last upgrade as 2004. Dcfish would know better though! :)
