Cabin Air Filter

I decided to install a new cabin air filter. Followed the manual (Page 185). No problem until the final assembly step of reinstalling the tension member (keeps the glove box door from free fall when opening). The tension member is a cylinder about 1" dia x 3" long with a rib with two 1/4"holes. The assemble fell in when I went to reinstall it (screw to glove box door). It was downhill from there. Any help inreinstalling the item would be greatly appreciated.

the same thing happened to me. Took it to the dealer and watched him fix it in a minute. Unscrew the (tension member) cylinder from the door. Now, with the glove box door hanging down, pull it up and out. The bottom hinge should release easily. Now that you can get in there easily, there is a post that looks like an arrow on the top right hand side of the glove box area. I am not good at the name of this post but I can tell you that the big hole end of the cylinder will fit onto it with a little push. The cylinder should lock in place so that it does not pull off.

Reinstall the glove box door, put in in place so that it closes and opens, and lastly attach the cylinder to the glove box door. Hope this helps.

I still need some help. If you can send me your e-mail address, I will send you a drawing of the part with the 3 holes identified (A, B, C). My problem is that I'm an engineer so I tend to complicate the simplest of things.

Thanks again for all of your help and patience.
