My LS400 with 213K on it is starting to get tempermental. When you step on the gas fast it starves itself and almost stalls. If you give it gas lightly it is fine. Any ideas. Is it the fuel filter? :o

Hi,

It could be the fuel filter or many other things,is the engine check light on?

Also check all the vacuum pipes for leaks as these can cause a weak mixture.

Is the air filter clogged?

The light coming on confirms you have a problem but at least now you can ask the car what the problem is by entering the diagnostic mode and reading the fault code(s).

Here is the link to the proceedure and what the codes mean.

Hey,

Great news. I checked the easy stuff before the tuff and found a corrioded fuel pump sensor. I also replaced the timing belt and the car is running great with no check engine light. The gas is responsive and the car doesnt sqeek anymore.

Loving my 1992 and she just hit 214K yesterday
