Battery Light

While my car was in Park, It appeared that my battery light came on. when I read the indicator light warnings in my book, it said to check my drive belt.

What is that???????

Is this a major repair or minor????

Are there other names for it, so I can see if my warranty covers it????

The drive belt turns the alternator that charges the battery. If the belt is not broken, than most likely your alternator has gone bad. :( I don't know what the replacement cost would be. Naturally, doing this type of replacement at Lexus Service will cost you more then going to a regular service shop. Generally, it's not a difficult job to do though.

If you hear squeeling when the light is on then it is the belt.If it goes away and comes on when stopped it is more liekly a wire or the alternator.

2 things, first your alternator could be bad, second is the battery itself. My bet will be on the alternator cause it should charge the battery, if it's not working right the light indicator will turn on on the instrumental panel.
