I noticed that the 2007-2008 models (IS250, 350, GS, etc) have these really white lights to light the car's license plate..LED lights maybe? Does anyone know if there's any way to put those lights on a 2002 ls430? Not sure if the bulbs were the same, etc.

I installed non OEM white bulbs to light the car's license plates in my LS400, and white LED to light up my trunk. They look really nice!! In my location, u can find ém in almost any car accessories shop!

Do you recall the bulb #s? I wonder if they are the same for the 90-94 LS? I have noticed these bright license plate lamps as well on the new Lexus and have been impressed by them as well.

They do not get too hot for these applications do they?

Hello?

You have to get a long barreled phillips head screw driver and then you will need to manipulate the mirror in a way that exposes each screw one at a time. You will find them by moving the mirror around. There is one in each corner. Once you get the screws out just pull the mirror housing apart and the light cover will come off exposing the bulb. It is not as much trouble as you might think. Once you get into it you will see that it is no problem. Just takes patience. Good luck.

Thanks, but I was referring to bulbs for the license plate lights... wondering the bulb #s and if they are OK for use in a gen 1 LS400.

If your worried about heat, the LEDs don't cause any, so they should be fine if they fit. I have two blue LED 194's sitting around (i think 194 is the small bulb?), I'll be trying to get into the licenses plate sometime this or next week. I'll make sure to give you the scoop if no one has by then. :)
