alfred1
I'm replacing rear struts on my 2000 SC400. It appears the struts still have a considerable amount of tension on them once the car is raised and wheels are off the gound. Removing the top three nuts on the shock doesn't allow the strut to easily be removed. The spring and shock are still compressed somewhat. Do I simply try to compress the struct to remove the lower bolt or am I missing something? Thanks
jbarhorst2
You need to compress the spring with a spring compression tool (that's what I call it) and then remove from assembly. That's how I did mine. The tool is not too expensive. Tom
UCF3
you should also be able to use a floorjack as well. I am surprised you're required to compress the springs at all. Mine just came out.
