Resetting The Change Oil Soon Prompt

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me how to do this? My oil was changed recently by someone other than the dealership but even the mechanics at the shop seem unsure on how to reset this annoying prompt. Everytime I start up it says "Engine Oil maintenance required".

Make sure the Trip/Odometer is set to "Trip A"

Find the Reset Button under the dash to the left of the steering wheel

With ignition off, press and hold in the reset button

While holding the reset button in, press the Start/Ignition button twice to turn ignition on (DON'T have your foot on the brake).

Keep holding the reset button in and watching the trip/odometer display until you see it flash lines (-----)

Keep holding the reset button in and watching the trip/odometer display until you see it flash zeros (00000), then it'll read out your "trip A" again.

Then you release the reset button.

Thanks so much. It worked perfectly, although it did go a little different as you described (maybe because it's an 07?) but it still worked.

What was different?

The location of the reset button (to the right of the steering column next to the trip button) and the location of the ----- when it reset. Instead of posting this in the "trip A" location it posted this in the dash display location where it previously said to change oil soon.

Thanks again.
