djspawn00 Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 shopping for my usual cocoa pebbles when i wandered into the motor oil section and came across some Mobil1 0w-30. The new packaging caught my attention and the new label said it exceeds 5w-30 and 10w-30 requirements with advanced fuel economy. So I picked up 6 Quarts for about $27 or so and decided to use it on my next oil change instead of the Mobil1 5w-30EP that i got the week before. Its pretty cold right now so hopefully it makes cold start ups a lil less stressful on the engine but I'm really wondering if it would save me any gas... I could use the money I saved to finally buy that candy bar I always wanted or maybe even shop the dollar menu when i'm out on a fancy date!
jcrome04 Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Haha! Oooooo Prince Charming! ;) lol Let us know how that 0W stuff works, I'm about due for an oil change and would mind getting better MPGs as well!
smooth1 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 OW-30 is good stuff, Amsoil has had it out for awhile also. Which is the oil I use.
mburnickas Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 using Amsoil 0w-20 right now..worth the $6.25 per qt!
jcrome04 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 How is the effect on gas mileage?? Is it signifigant? Any negative effects going from 10W to 0W?
lenore Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 I am using the Castrol Oil synertec 0-30 (european formula) Works great.
djspawn00 Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 I think I'll use a blackstone analysis also for the before and after changes...
