PPK321
Hi, I am relatively new to this forum and had a question about my car. I have a 1990 Lexus LS400 with about 145,000 miles. Everything seems to be working fine except that there is a clicking noise when I drive at low RPM's. Usually around 1500-2000 RPM's the clicking noise comes from the engine area. Does anybody know what the problem is and how to fix it? Thanks.
blake918
It sounds like it might be your egr pipe. Before I capped mine off, it would make an awful ticking noise when accelerating from roughly the same rpm range you mentioned. Can you replicate the noise just by revving the engine? Haven't tried but will once I get the chance and reply. Thanks for the help.
90LS400Lexus
I wonder if what he is hearing is the lifters chattering a bit? Seems to be common on higher mile gen 1 LS400s that have not had adjustments. Both of mine had a little noise.... the 91' very little, but the 90' was a little more pronounced.
