Where Do You Mount Your Baby Seat - Side Or Middle?

I understand the safest place to mount a baby seat all things being equal is in the rear middle seat. Where do you all mount the baby seat and why? does the middle seat accept the baby seat?

Try not to mount it if the design is such that it crosses the split divide of the rear bench seats, even by a little! Under rear payload crash test conditions the seats usually open up slightly causing the child seat to twist....better to stay straight of course in any kind of frontal impact.....this is from real world test experience not from browsing the web ;)

Middle for my grandkids to give more crush space between the side of the car and the car seat. However, on the occasion when I carry another adult AND a grandkid, I will move it to one side next to the door.

Thanks. It's a 60/40 split. I'll need to look if the seat overlaps, but that makes perfect sense!
