92 Sc400 Dashboard Cluster

Our son is in the military, and we are baby sitting his 1992 sc 400 . All the needles on the dashboard do not illuminate. We have removed the dashboard cluster, but we are having a VERY difficult time getting behind it to release the 3 harnesses that hold it in place. We know about the clip on the top of each harness, but is there a way (or tool) to hold it down while we try to pull it apart. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We will be using Lextech to service both the climate control and the dash cluster. They have been very helpful.

A small screwdriver and a steady pull straight out, A little wiggle doesn't hurt. ;) Be firm and don't worry they are built like a tank. B)

I feel your pain. I was about ready to cut the wires, because it felt like I was going to rip the whole socket out of the damn dash! I had 'em out once to work on the mirror computer and put a touch of wd-40 on them because I knew I would one day sent the dash to Lextech. It did not help. Even harder the next time. Would it kill them to give you a little more wire? Sorry I don't have any helpful tips. I pryed with a screwdriver and held the little tab down with another littlebitty screwdriver. I wasted 2 hours on that SOB! Anyway, I should get mine back from Lextech in a few days, hopefully I'll NEVER have to remove it again!
