Reminds me of when I first started looking at hybrid message boards and encountered that mysterious acronym. "ICE" stands for Internal Combustion Engine. You'll see it used all over these forums. As for your noise problem, I can't help you out. Mine doesn't make any "loud clunking noise" when starting up. Do you hear it INSIDE the vehicle as well? edd Posted January 30, 2008 Share Posted January 30, 2008 Do you depress the brake when you start up the car? If so, it might be your brakes. I've had the same problem in cold weather. The dealership tells me it's normal to have a clunking sound when braking hard. I don't know if I buy that, but, they've told me that three times, now.
