Speaker Vs Amplifier Problem

BobbyB

Recommended Posts

I have a 2001 RX with the standard audio system, and my front passenger speaker (both the tweeter and the door panel speaker) are not working- no sound or static whatsoever. My question is does this sound like a speaker problem or an amp problem? Is there an easy way to test without ripping the door panals off? I have the back opened up so the amp is readily accessable.

Thanks for your help and suggestions!

The tweeter and right front door speaker are wired in parallel. They are driven by the stereo component amplifier.

you could take an ohm meter and measure the resistance across the speakers. If they measure less than 4 ohms they are good and you have a wire or amp problem.
