How Do I Disconnect Speed Monitor On Rx400h

I recently purchase a 2008 RX400h and was interested in having the speed monitor disconnected. I heard off the record from the deal, some individuals have the monitor wire clipped. I also saw forums on lockpik software that took care of this problem. I had a couple questions:

1) Is one methodology better than the other?

2) Does this enable all functions (i.e. nav, phone, etc.) to be usable or just certain ones?

3) Anyone have any warranty issues around this modification?

Thanks. Love the wheels, just wish they had the ability to use the screen when there's a passenger in the next seat.
