06 Ls-430 Paint Problem

I have a 2006 LS 430 Cherry Black in color. About 8 months after I purchased the new car it appeared to have water spots on it. I waited to have it detailed off as the salesman told me not to do so for a year. So when I finely detailed the car, the spots did not go away. Upon investigation, with a strong Magnifying glass, I found that the clear coat was chipping off. I can see other areas that look like spider webs and then those start flaking out. The dealer stated on the first call, before they ever saw the car, that it was environmental. Then when I took the car in, which took 2 weeks to set up, they said it was environmental and not covered by any warranty but that a Lexus rep would be there in 2 weeks. I went back and she said it was environmental, but that the specialist in paint could come and look at it. I was told that I would be contacted, 3 weeks go by. I send an e-mail to corporate to no avail. Then after another couple weeks I go see the general manager. A week and a half after I get a phone call, after I e-mailed him, to say that the paint specialist would be there in 2 months to look at the problem. I have looked at several dark colors and have seen the same, but most people just think it is water spots. It is not when you look at it. Has any one had any paint problems with their new cars? What to do? I do not want to let just anyone take a buffer to my car and ruin it.

I had a similiar problem with my toyota tacoma (2002) double cab 4x4, the rep came out and stated enviromental and not cover by warranty, also my chrome bumper was starting to rust also, not under warranty, since I had purchased numerous of vehicle from this dealership, they took care of the bumper and not the paint . but in truth, I know for a fact that this truck was sitting in the dealers lot for more than two weeks, so they should have taken care of it. they did detail the truck out again, but didn't really solve the problem. Maybe your 06 lexus had been sitting out in the dealership lot prior to you buying, so they actually was at fault for not covering or protecting this vehicle. as we all know, all these new vehicles sit out in the hot sun collecting dust, and the workers come out and spray down the cars in the morning to rinse off the vehicles, and they don't follow their own rules about not washing cars out in the hot sun. lexus rep are not specialist in paint flaws, they can say anything they want, and make you jump thru hoops to resolve your problems, You can always call up a news station and see if they may try to help you out, they always like a good story regarding big dealership and how they screw with the paying public. no harm in calling them up. more to gain!
