J Chow
Hi, I just replaced the front passenger side seat belt which has pretensioner. After replacing the seat belt, the airbag light starts to blink. I did disconnect the battery before installation. I am curious if there is way that you can reset the airbag light yourself? Thanks, J
smooth1
The airbag system is connected and works with the seatbelts. So there must be an issue with the sensor connection of the new seatbelt. Did you make sure the connections were made and are secure? It's a diagnostic warning that is coming on not a DTC code. So there is no need to reset it, as soon as you address the issue, the light will go out, but if the seatbelt isn't correctly installed, the light will just keep coming back on. Hi, I went back to recheck my installation. I make sure the cable connects to the seatbelt is secured. The light is still blinking. I am sure the system is fine before installation. I try to hook back to my old seatbelt, the light will blink also. I thought the SRS module needs to reset after new seatbelt installtion.? Thanks, J
smooth1
You can try a reset. Take the negative cable off the battery for about 20 mins. Then reconnect it. That clears the ecu. But I don't think that would do it. It's not a DTC code. It doesn't throw up a cell like from a sensor on the catalytic converter. It's a diagnostic routine everytime the car is started. So before you replaced the seat belt, you didn't have an issue with the light. You replaced the seatbelt and now the light is blinking? If that is so, then there is something wrong with the seat belt sensor, or connection. That's all it could be.
