felixcat Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Will changing the spark plug wires help improving performance and also mpg? My car has 140k on the meter and the wires are original.

It might a slight bit (if really bad). I would replace them if that old. I do mine every 60 to 90K miles. Too gain more MPG use FP+ from Lube Control or Netrua 131. Get over 1 to 1.5 more per gallon..worth the $$$

The worse thing, maybe the only bad thing, that can happen with old spark plug wiring is the spark energy jumping from one wire to another close by. But you can generally see that happening on a day night if you check.
mburnickas Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 or spray water on wires and look for a short (aka skip in motor). But with those miles, if original, I would replace since they are cheap.
