widowmaker03 Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 I've done several searches and couldn't find the answer I'm looking for. I have developed a crackling sound from my left front speaker and tweeter. It is very pronounce when I max out the volume. It is almost unnoticeable at lower volumes. When I was getting my Sirius radio installed, the technician noticed the same thing. He was thinking the amp was going bad. I was wondering if the HU or amp controls the front speakers. Also, I have the navigation system so do I have a Pioneer or Nakamichi amp?

widowmaker03 Posted September 7, 2007 Author Posted September 7, 2007 Ok, I got a a response. Does anyone have an answer?
smooth1 Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 From your description, I don't think you have an amp issue, you may have a speaker issue. It sounds like the cone suspension may be worn out and the voice coils have stretched out. Before you go out and buy a new system, I would get another speaker and hook it up and see if that fixes the problem first.
