kalasend Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Hi, I just purchased a 04 IS300. When I fueled the car, it seemed that in the path to the fuel tank, there is not a flap that prevents the fuel from spilling. Did I buy a defective car or is it just the way it is?
smooth1 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I'm not clear on your question. Are you talking about in the feed spout itself? or like a plastic catch at the bottom of the punch door? Can you post a pic and point to what you mean?
flop170 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 i think he's talking about the fuel valve that's right inside the fill neck.... and i looked and mine doesn't have one either guy! but my other car does so i think i know what your talking about.... when you stick in the gas pump it opens that valve which also opens up a vent so you can fill up and let out the gas vapors at the same time..... or at least that's what i just read... not sure why our cars don't have it... maybe it's done a different way or something...

Yeah, that's what I was asking about. Okay, then I don't have to worry about it I guess....coz the first time I refuel there was slight fuel spilled so I thought the flap was missing. Thanks guys
