808-lexus Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 ok, so....my trunk release lever malfunctioned and now i can't open the trunk from the inside of the car. how do i fix it, if there is a way to fix it? lol
landar Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Not sure about a 1990, but check for a trunk lockout button such as used for valet parking. Do you have an owners manual? RTFM :whistles:
jdfriederich Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 I had the same problem. Between the fuel door lever and the trunk lever is a round button with a key slot. Push it in and the remote trunk lever goes dead. Use your key to unlock the round button. It is for valet parking.
808-lexus Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 oh wow! it works! haha! thanks for the help!! now i know what to do next time that happens.... thanks again! :D
Pstan Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 "The Mystery of the Sudden Trunk Release Malfunction." wow! you guys are great! my trunk release stopped working this morning, after picking up the car from the mechanic (differnent issue)...and i was bummed. but i scoured this website for answers and many of you pointed out the trunk lock mechanism in the glove compartment. and....it worked! i cant thank you enough for your expertise and experience in helping a fellow lexus owner solve "The Mystery of the Sudden Trunk Release Malfunction." I was so sure i'd need to call Scooby Doo and his Mystery Machine or worse, a certified lexus dealer....and his meddling kids. i am starting life over again after a few mistakes and my 94 ES300 (274K, bought 40 days ago for $2900) is an encouraging milestone for me...so when anything goes wrong....it makes for a bad day. i scoured this website for answers and i found them. thanks again to all of you. lexus rocks! YOU rock!!! -Pstan (the P is silent)
TexasLexus94 Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Absolute best forum ever. I had the strange loss of the trunk remote today, and now, thanks to this post, all is peachy. FYI-I also own a 2005 MX-5 Miata, and I found that most Mazda internet forums are examples of people with "zoom, zoom, zoom" on their minds, and no clue about maintenance and longevity of their car. Nice to work with grown-ups here.....
