well....i wanted to try to repaint the stock rims on my 400. i know what to do in terms of prepping and things, but i don't know what paint would best match. don't want it to look cheesy either. the stock color is silvery grayish. what do you think i should do? any input would be greatly appreciated! :)

thanks!

I used Sikkens Autocryl acrylic urethane topcoat, in a very fine metallic silver. The colour matches the aluminum on my 17 inch GS wheels. The factory colour on the 15 inch LS wheels doesn't look like aluminum at all to my eye. I also repainted the center caps after removing the Lexus logo. The car looks very stock and very good. The brighter aluminum appearance only shows when another LS of the same vintage parks next to me, and then that car's wheels look dull.

I don't know how to post a photo but I can e-mail one if you like.

Wurth makes a well-respected Silver Wheel paint and a Clear Top Coat. For reference, this color would be very similar to a BMW or Audi wheel finish from the factory. It is available online.
