Hi there i got a problem with my 1998 ls400 i only have 1 master key and the battery is starting to die i was wondering if i can change the battery in the remote or will that wipe out the chip data on it? should i just go ahead and order one of those keys that are precut using the vin and then just program it myself so i don't risk losing the data on my only working key?

The battery is simply for the remote functions, and all data is stored in non-volitile memory. Meaning, changing the battery won't erase any settings or unpair the remote from the car.
