1999 Gs300 Speedometer And Odometer Don't Work But Cruise Does

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a problem with my 1999 Lexus GS300. Although the speedometer and odometer don't work, the cruise control works. I assume the speed sensors are okay, otherwise the cruise control shouldn't work. Is this a true assumption? Does anybody has any idea what might be wrong? ABS and VSC don't work either. I am helpless! Any help!?

Thank you,

Mark

Usually its just the cluster that went bad. Bad instrument clusters are somewhat common and they aren't cheap. and about your abs and vsc what makes you think they aren't working? Are the abs and vsc dash lights on solid? If so you have something else going on and need to get a scan tool on it.

If I replace the cluster is there a way to get to odometer to read accurately.

Did your current cluster read inaccurately before it took a dump? Either way I think all your problems are in the cluster. If you had access to a repair manual and a dvom you could test the sensors and harness for any issues and test the connectors at the cluster for specified values.

Everything worked great before the speedo and odo crapped out. The other gauges work good. I hope that there is a way to calibrate the odo if I replace the cluster.
