Crank Shaft

I have been frightened by stories of cranks failing...specifically the bushing fails which causes the shaft to wobble and cause engine failure after about 90K. The way it was explained was a bearing assembly should have been designed into the lower engine for the crank shaft to tranmit power to the transmission? At any rate, the end result is engine replacement when it fails. The tell tale sign (if any) , is a very hard to discern oil leak underneath. Supposedly, Lexus has recognized the problem but have not issued recalls and are not covering it under warranty. The dealership solution is to stock lots of cranks. Now I ask, if the engine needs replacing, how can having cranks on hand solve their problem. Something doen't seem to add up.
