lexus400
'91 LS and shifter button is tight and won't engage in order to get it into gear. Takes a lot of playing around with before working. Once it does, it's fine. Any ideas? thanks, Bob
1990LS400
If you are saying that it is difficult to get the shift lever out of "Park", the usual culprit is a failing brake light switch at the brake pedal. In my experience, the switch fails little by little until it fails completely which means having to use of the shift lever override button to get the shift lever out of Park. qha_vn
got the same problem with the shift lever, the other day, i could not move it out of Park, the shifter button was locked. i then move my hand from the shift lever, released/ pressed brake pedal several times and it worked again. i think this is the issue of either the button electric lock or stop light switch i never know that if the shifter button wont work we can still use the overdrive button to move it out of park
