Bluey Posted June 10, 2007 Share Posted June 10, 2007 I read that straight lines are best when doing any work on the cars paint. Why is this so? Even the Meguiars website shows their products being applied in circles. I think I can see why washing in straight lines might be beneficial, but what about the post wash processess. SW03ES Posted June 10, 2007 Share Posted June 10, 2007 The reason why you want to apply everything and buff in straight lines instead of circles is to lessen the chance of putting swirl marks into the paint. If you mar the paint in a stright line its much harder to see since the light only bounces off of it from 2 directions. If you mar the paint in a circle it can ALWAYS be seen because light bounces off of it from every direction. A PC or other buffer is much less likely to scratch the paint than you are with your hand since it always applies even pressure. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
