kyleb Posted June 10, 2007 Share Posted June 10, 2007 Hi all, I was real interested in owning a sc 400. Right now I currently have a camaro z28 it’s a 1995 lt1. It’s really fast but im ready for something nicer/newer! I’m a member over at the camaro boards and the Saturn boards since I have a Saturn sc2!!! Lol so I’m stranger to how forums work... I know a lot of you will tell me to search for the question I have to ask here but I will be searching after in post this. Sometimes it’s just quicker for someone to throw out an answer. Here a re my questions: -Are these cars easy to work on and how many miles these cars are good for? I seen a lot of them have high mileage around 150k and up hard to find one with low mileage -what does the 98 sc 400 with 290 hp run in ¼ mile and 0-60? What is your most favorite option on the sc400? What is top speed of the 98? Is the sc400 the fastest Lexus? They are faster than the IS300? (There than that new 430) If luxury is the main concern which model would be better? The sc400 or 300? What kinda cars to these things beat up in races? I know camaros we take down all the mustangs in my Saturn we take down those ricey hondaslol what is the Lexus rival so to speak? I am soon going to buy a new car and im either going to buy a newer z28 or the lexus. My thinking behind all this and the self argument I have with my self is this. The camaros with the ls1 engine are realy fast and I like having that kinda power plus camaros are respected everywhere and they look awesome.anyone try to race me I can take them down. And the lexus ahs a sleek look its nicer and it’s the only luxerymobile that looks sweet to me and has the v8 power bhind it. Its much more classy. I noticed a lot of people on the forums are turboing there sc’s and to me that seems weird because isn’t it supposed to be luxery?! Iu nevr own a car like this before before and I dont know much about these types. I had all gm and one vw beetle lol. jzz30 Posted June 10, 2007 Share Posted June 10, 2007 mmm... i dont think the SC is as fast as you would like. 1/4 times are only in the 14's 0-60 would be low 6's? at the time i think the sc and the gs were the fastest but i would think that the new IS330 is the fastest... here's something you can do. if a 98 sc isnt as fast as you like you can always swap in a zo6 engine! You can also use the Search Feature on the Forum to guide you with any other little questions you may have. The Sc400 is fast, and has a pretty good suspension. Both the SC3/4 do. The powerplant onbaord the SC4 is better compared to the SC3-Stock, but since there are a number for power options you can upgrade to, that's where the SC3 will shine. Think of the Toy. SUPRA GTE when you're thinking the SC3. Not sure if you're looking for Automatic or Standard. Remember the SC4 only comes in automatic. The SC3 come in Standard-5sp but an extremely rear commodity. It took me a year to find mine. yea i want a v8(the sc4) and i know that they all come in auto...i have learned alot by serching so far.. but somthing i havent found yet is what is usually a problem that goes wrong with these..common one? anything theyre known for doing? i dont want it as a fasst car altho i want the power i want it as a cruser:) how many mile can these handle ive seen a ton on the internet for sale with 180k that alot!!!! but i never had a lexus and i know theyre supposed to be quality so thinking meybe the engine will handle for than a cheap gm vechical Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

sc300max Posted June 24, 2007 Share Posted June 24, 2007 If properly maintained these engines will last a long time. Off the top of my head a common problem on the sc400 is the power steering leaking onto the alternator causing it to fail. Also checkout www.intellexual.net for answers to common questions.
