cmshoot Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Cowboy Action Shooting is a competitive shooting sport where you shoot weapons that were traditional to the "Old West", i.e., Colt Single Action Army revolvers (or copies like the Rugers and such), lever action rifles, double-barrel shotguns or Winchester 1897 pump-action shotguns. Oh, and you have to dress in authentic period-style clothing while you're doing it. I do several different types of competitive shooting (I'm a Firearms/Tactics Instructor by trade, as well as ), but CAS is pretty laid back and not as intense as the rest. It's more like going out and having fun shooting with the guys than trying to beat 'em. Here's a link to the governing body of CAS, the Single Action Shooting Society or SASS http://www.sassnet.com/
