Not uncommon for all auto exec's to test the competition and learn how to improve product. They all drive competitive brands for testing ! You don't believe Mercedes and BMW do the same? And typically, the engineering department tears apart competitor's vehicles; the CEO is not required to do his or her own testing (at least according to what I've read).
