Noise Under The Console At Brake

Folks:

I have a 90 LS400 only 75K miles. Never had any problem.

Midas replaced the brake pads 5 years ago at 50K miles. Two months ago I had Midas recheck it, and was told all the pads, with the rotors in the back were to be replaced in a few months

Since then one thing after another started to bother me:

1. whenever I press the brake, there always is a noise underneath the console,

distinct loud clicking sound, like "da", not from the wheels;

2. the usual smooth traction control brake action became jerky and lurching, as though could be

be locked if pressed hard; Today I found the brake fluid tank is half empty.

3. power steering started to make heaving grinding noise when turned.

4. There is an extra "rattle snake" "shiiii" noise when the engine is running.

Are these related to the brake pads? Thanks for any advise.

I found out the noise at the console comes from the gear box,

I could feel the click when my hand is on the shift while the brake is pressed.

This happens only the gear is at "P". No click noise when the shift is at any other gears.

Perhaps the power steering noise can be illiminated from replaing power steering fluid?

I have not done that before.

I found: power stearing noise and engine starting noise were due to low fluid level.

clicking sound was due to worn rubber of the shift lock solenoid.
