Can You Play Dvd's With Navi But No Mark Levinson?

hello all,

i have a 2006 gs300 with navigation but without the mark levinson package, can i play dvd's still. i would assume that it is the same navi system just different speakers, however when i put in a dvd, i get an error message that it cannot read disc. any help would be greatly apreciated. thanks

I've heard that you need the Mark Levinson to play DVD's. I know for a fact that is true on the new LS460, and I have heard the same about the 2006 GS.

that sucks, i wonder if there might be some type of wiring that can be bypassed for it? thanks for your response

Has anyone confirmed this? I don't have the Mark Levinson system and have yet to try playing a DVD...
