bean_8044 Posted August 14, 2003 Posted August 14, 2003 I currently own a 91 Soarer TT and id like to bring it back to the states when i go back. Before you ask, im in the army and ive seen some of the laws and i know its supposed to be a bit easier for us. Anyways... im just tryin to find out if anyone has gotten an actual cost for this kind of import. Thanks!
UCF3 Posted August 14, 2003 Posted August 14, 2003 I remember trying to import my Skyline 34 here. The cost was around $7-10K, but you can find it cheaper with different importers. Isn't the Department picking up the tab for that? By the way, I'm jealous.
jzz30 Posted August 14, 2003 Posted August 14, 2003 really it only costs 7-10k to import? well hello r34 to me but when i get money of course
JPI Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 I know a guy in dallas that has a Soarer. He is having hard time to get the car inspect. I think he is bringing that beast back to japan. Let me know if you find a way. JPI
bean_8044 Posted August 16, 2003 Author Posted August 16, 2003 hopefully D.o.D. will ship it for me since its a direct copy of a Lexus SC400... Im not sure about it since i may be gettin a medical retirement or just seperation. either way, i'll keep everyone posted
JDOwen2 Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 My nephew had the front half of a 240SX shipped over. He pulled out the engine, trans, turbo, etc. and dropped it into his. You might want to consider that route if getting it certified is too rough.
UCF3 Posted August 19, 2003 Posted August 19, 2003 there is a way you could try. Before you ship the car, talk to Motorex. they import Skylines, and probably put the car in one of their containers. They'll probably help you DOT legal-it, but don't know for sure. http://motorex.net/m_home.html Oh, I can't wait to start my shop! It would answer all of these questions and help you too.
