denslexusgx470 Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Yes any Lexus key will fit BUT you can't buy these keys from any local locksmith in town. You also need the dealer to program it for the immobilizer. ;)

The G Man Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 If you buy the key from sewell or on E-bay, most of the time, they come with programming instructions for the immobilizer and the door locks, but you will have to find a locksmith that can cut that key.

The G Man Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I have never done it, but from what I have read on this forum is that the key from e-bay comes in blank with the remote buttons for the doors. You have to cut it yourself. The programming instruction will program the immobilizer and the door buttons. From what I understand, you can do it yourself. It is a series of putting the old key in and push some buttons and inserting the new key. Sorry I cant be more helpful, good luck.

The G Man Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Good info, thanks dcfish. But I dont see the GX470 on the list, I wonder if its the same as the LS.
SW03ES Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I think Sewell (lexus-parts.com) can send you keys already cut from the VIN...
kimber33 Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I bought a new key from Ebay for my lexus and paid $45 to get it cut by a locksmith and another $45 to get it programmed....I didn't bother trying to program it myself....it was just easier, but it took him all of 5 min to program it :( next time I will program it myself and not be lazy :) So go to ebay and buy a NEW Key and transponder for about $60 and pay another $45 to get it cut and program it yourself :) Kim
