I am interested in bolting on a turbo to a GE engine. Is the GE the same compression as the GTE ? How much boost will the GE handle, and what is everyone doing for fuel ? Is there a way to reprogram the factory ECU or are there piggybacks ? I need something fairly plug and play cuz i live in Cali and will have to remove for SMOG ! I am really new to Lexus. I am mainly a Nissan tuner :) thanx for the help ?

A T66 may be a little too big. The biggest turbo on that motor I know of on stock fuel is a T60-1. It is not trimmed much different than a T04e-60. That turbo comes standard with many kits. You can spec it however you want though. I would try a T04 with a .6 to .7 or so exhaust a/r and similar compressor side. The housings can be changed. For fuel, you can run an additional injector controller - it must be able to sense boost at least. I run the Haltec H5. You need a high pressure, higher flow fuel pump like the TT. I'm not a fan of rising ratio mechanical FMU's but they can be used too. The stock ecu can not really be modified other than splicing an O^2 sensor to get one. To pass emissions, leave your egr, pcv, and related systems intact. Put your cats or some hi flow cats on v bands and get a test pipe to swap out easy. Turn the boost and cut in way down during testing and make sure the car is nice and hot. Also, run only the best fuel you can find.

I've hit 20 psi before on 10:1 compression wich is stock for the GE. The GTE is 8.5:1. There is a few built GE's running 30+ psi. But your motor won't want to go that high. 10 to 15 psi is safe with the right tuning and fuel.

20 PSI on stock injector & 1 extra ? how is the fuel distribution , and where did you locate your extra injector ? what kind of HP is that ? have you ever been to a track with your SC ? 14-14psi what kind of power can i expect from that ? I imagine you run a FMIC. Is it difficult to swap and control bigger injectors ? Thanx for the info im excited to start this project !

LOL. Two auxillary 550cc injectors. The "conservative" set-up on this car does not require the use of both - so only one is running now. 6 Stock fuel injectors running of a debatably rising rate stock fpr or fuel pulse damper as Toyota calls it. It is rumored that the stock piece does increase fuel somewhat under boost. I must correct myself though, the controller is the Haltech F5 but there are many out there to choose from. I have only hit 20 psi once on a reckless bout - but saw no trouble from it. On a T04e at 10 psi - it is safe to say the car will turn out 350 or so horsies at the wheel. The rest depends on tuning and fuel delivery. I have not seen any indication of detonation aside from the 20 psi pull when romping through first gear, there was a little rumble and hint of pulled timing at 4 to 6k rpm. No other signs of problem though. The car is happy all day long at 15psi. Good luck. Let us know if there are any other questions. Have you picked out a set-up yet?

No, no set up yet. What manifold do you use (2jzgte?) Im honestly looking to run some mid to low 12's. Do you know what kind of power that would take in a 95 Sc300 ? I have heard good things about the GReddy Emanage unit as a piggyback has that been tried on factory ECU or is it pretty much Extra injectors or Stand ALoneonly ? I think i will require quite q bit more power than 350rwhp but its a start....:) thanx for the info !

12 sec 1/4 will all come down to traction. I know a guy who went from high 300's to low 500's and his quarter mile time did not change at all. Food for thought there. Most guys running 12's and up can do it with 400 to 600 ponies wich you will make easily on a well tuned entry level set-up. Just get your driving and traction issues solved. Then you have only power limitations.

I'm running a Toyomoto manifold (log style) without the external gate option. My turbo is internally gated, (something that will change next year - but then the manifold will need modification) - the TT manifolds will not fit. There are lots of options. Truely more than I have time to mention now. Money is the factor. I can get you information if you are serious. I also mentioned the car in Miami that is for sale. Already built. The guy really needs to sell and the car is done up to the T. But if you want to build it, ask away. There are some references in the faq I'd recommend checking out as well.

Good luck.

I dont mind the log style but i prefer the header style. Can you recomend a couple ? What kind of traction problems arent the SC factory LSD ? If not do the supra units fit ? Thanx !

Sound Performance out of Chicago area produces a beautiful equal length runner turbo header fashioned directly from the HKS units. This piece is very nice and co$t$. Then there is the Performance Factory/Rollhard piece (New York/Jersey area) that is also equal length and features indy style collectors. I actually had my hands on the PF unit and was going to use it - but fate stepped in the way. IT was a nice piece as well. I found it used (wich can be a very good way to save $$). Also, I hear Toyomoto has come up with a header style turbo manifold. So the options are there. Expect to pay at least 1600$ for a used piece depending. New units go from 1800$+ depending on options like heat coating/SS/ceramic etc. Expect to pay over 2g's for a SP or Toyomoto unit.

There is platinum one in Miami with a –70 on it, However he is running a 2JZ GTE from Toyomoto. I think a –60 will do just fine + less lag is always a plus.

That car is a t70 with a gte shortblock (the ge shortblock got shreaded when one of the clutch/flywheel assy let loose) - the head is our na/GE head with the toyomoto stuff on it. It is also running a Haltec e6 (I think) complete standalone with getrag 6 speed. lsd, big brakes, Wald body kit, some sweet wheels I can't remember the name of, full audio visual (or it used to have - he may have sold that stuff separate) and complete line of complimentary electronics one would expect for a car modified as much. Not to mention all the other stuff like TRD steering wheel, suspension, etc.

Sweet car.
