Recenty I dropped my transmission pan and I picked up some sealant that was high temp gasket sealant, but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. What is the correct type of sealant for this job? Also, I would like to remove my oil pan also in the near future can the sealant used with the transmission pan be used with the oil pan also? I would assume it would work for both. But again what is the proper type of sealant to use? I should know this by now.... :whistles:

For what it's worth..you only want to use the Toyota sealant from your local Toyota dealer..and they can also tell you if it is the same for the Oil Pan...Good Luck!!!

if you dotn want to pick that up then i think you can use the permatex grey stuff. also make sure you take off all the old silicone with a wire brush on a drill or bench grinder.
