SARX Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 My 2000 RX 300 has noise like brake pads are worn out. I have personally taken the tires off and inspected the pads and rotors. I still have lots of pad and the rotors are smooth. Any ideas?
Benjamin Tang Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 it could be that the pads are chattering. some options are the chamfer the leading edge of the pads, or add more anti-squeal compound at the backing plates?
backwoods lex Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Do you know what type of pads are on the vehicle? I made the mistake of putting cheap $20 pads on mine from autozone and wound up using the money I saved on lots of aspirin from all of the sqeaking. OEM pads are a lot more quiet and they can be purchased from the local toyota parts department.
arens Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 If you are already running ceramic pads (OEM or aftermarket) then definately follow Benjamins post above. If you are not using ceramic pads I would suggest you invest in some. They are quieter and less dusty then semi-metallic.
