Please advice. Is buying this car for $39k a good deal? I have seen the car and it currently has 9100 miles.

It has no dings and still has the smell of new leather inside :-). The owner has a log of all the oil changes, gas, tire rotations etc. Below is the seller's pitch;

Condition Description: This Lexus GX470 is loaded with nearly every factory option available from Lexus. This vehicle is blue meridian pearl with gray leather seats, factory navigation, back-up camera, heated seats, wood trim dashboard and steering wheel, moonroof, Mark Levinsion audio, 6 disc cd changer, dual climate control, adjustable ride height, power telescopic and tilt steering wheel, and adjustable suspension. Enjoy the one of the nicest Luxury SUV’s made today with third row seating and one of the smoothest rides available in a SUV.

Sounds like the only option this car has is the Nav, which comes with the ML system and the camera, and the 3rd row seats. This car is almost 3 years old. You can buy a brand new 06 with same option for about $7000 more.

The Kelly's blue book value for that car is $42000 for private party sale. Personnally, I would never buy a 3 year old car just to save 7000 dollars. The 06 GX are selling at around invoice now, so it is quite a bargain comapre to the used 04s. Another problem you might want to look out for is the drive shaft cluck on the 04s. That is the sensation of the car jumping forword a little bit after it comes to a complete stop. The cluck might be one of the reason why the owner wants to sell this truck.

Good Luck

Wow, I got mine for $42K with 20K miles 2-months ago, with about the same options. You should buy it!

Before I saw this private seller's vehicle, I had put a deposit for an '06 with both NAV and Rear DVD for my 3 boys. The dealer gave me $49200. They accepted my BWM 328i trade with 83k miles (manual) for $6000.

Now all I had to do was come up with $43200.

With the used GX, I will miss out on the rear DVD but I get to keep my BWM thus saving me $16,000 when all is said and done.

Remember, both the 04 and 06 have 3rd row seating.

I'm also beginning my search for a GX - probably an '04. I've seen them for around $40-42 (asking price) for ones with Nav and < 35k miles.

Wow, sounds like a good deal, assuming the warranty is still covered which imagine it would at just 9k miles. Take a thorough test and look out for that "click" sound mentioned in prior post. I had that issue but Lexus resolved it. Otherwise, quite pleased with my GX, have had a Mercedes ML and there's no comparison...although I prefer the swing up rear door to the GX's side rear door swing. Sound ride, comfy during long trips.

Thanks everyone for your input. I decided to go with the 06'. All that was missing in the 06 was the KDSS.

The used 04 was blue with grey interior (a minus for me), but the 06 is black with grey which is gorgeous.

All my friends that stopped by and drove it all fell in love. I took it to church last sunday and the reaction I got felt good... :-)

thanks all
