My aftermarket trailer hitch (Drawtite) was insalled by Lexus for $600 total approx 5 years ago.

The wiring got corroded over time causing electrical problems.

Lexus removed the wiring and fixed the fuses for around $100 for diagnostics, etc.

The hitch itself was not removed (and is unusable without the wiring).

Now Lexus wants $500 to put in new wiring for the hitch. They say a new hitch install is around $1000.

What are my options? Should I go to UHaul and buy a new hitch, etc?

Can I get the wiring itself somewhere and do it myself?

Does anyone have experience with UHaul installation?

Any help/comments is appreciated.

Thanks

Good grief if the hitch is still there just have U Haul put in the necessary wiring, will probably cost next to nothing compared to Lexus.

Hi, I had the same problem. Seeming this forum, I took my LX470 to U-Haul and installed a new wiring harness. However, I assumed that they were going to use the existing adapter next to the tow hitch, but instead, they ran the wire inside the place where the jack is stored. So now, whenever I want to use it, I have to pull the wire out from the and hang it out from the trunk. Is this what happened with you also?
