LexKid630 Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Has anyone ever seen a tachometer for an average lawn mower engine? I'm working on a side project and was wondering if it was possible to buy or even make a tach meter for it? Does anyone know what a lawn mower's avg. RPM is anyway? Thanks!
dcfish Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 2 or 4 stroke engine? ← If you talk to toysrme he might be able to slap a turbo on for you.
CUMan Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Most four stroke lawn mower engines would operate around 3500 RPM.

lenore Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Oh my, reminds me of the tool man Tim, putting a jet engine on a mower. Tachometer, great, hit red line and really get a fast cut of your lawn..heh ,heh. Course we could put a turbo with intercooling on it too. If you add nitro, man you will really go. ....

Most lawn mower are throw away, unless you pay a few thousand (lawn mower, not tractor). I know my tractor can have accept a turbo! Then again why do I need one nor would I even own a lawn mower. :D :D :P
MadMax96 Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I know it's not analog, but did a google search and found this: TinyTach Search for a tach for a single cylinder engine as most are for 4, 6, and 8 cylinders.

MadMax96 Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Oh it's just for a go-kart? Those things have two speeds - stopped and floored :D We don't neeeed no stinkin tach!! :D
LexKid630 Posted November 24, 2005 Author Posted November 24, 2005 I thought it would be nice to see the needle too
dcfish Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 I thought it would be nice to see the needle too ← Why don't you just buy a used tach and epoxy the needle somewhere around 7000 and when the cart is floored look at the guage and say YIPEE !!!I'm really goin now. Have fun with the cart project, I had one when I was a kid and it was a blast, But it was stop or GOOOOO! Nothing inbetween.
