Hi,

I have a 1995 es300 and I have been driving it for the past month and I have been receiving a smoky smell coming, I think, from the engine and into the inside of the car. I checked under the hood and it seems that there is no leakage of any sort. What do you guys think might be causing this smoky smell? Help is much appreciated, thanks!

Rear valve cover gaskets leaking onto the exhaust. Mine's doing the same thing. Do a search on it and you'll find out more.

sicklingly sweet odor is almost always anti-freeze.

yes, I know, that is why I was asking. The original post is vague on the smell.

we immediately assume that all engine smells in the cabin are the dreaded common valve cover and or rear seal leaks.

then you are only treating the symptom and not the cause. poor practice.
