i'm about to install a used tranny and really i am wondering about the clearance of the torque converter but now i'm just thinking, should i leave this to an professional, or is it pretty straight forward?

really i'd like to hear from those who have installed a tranny but anyelse is welcome

The torque convertor is always removed with the trans, and installed with the trans. It must be lined up on two spline shafts and the pump drive, and that can't be done except by spinning it on the trans. Once the trans is in position the flex plate is attached to the convertor.

If you haven't done much transmission work in the past, this probably isn't a good car to start on. It's best done on a hoist with a proper transmission jack to ease the alignment, as well.

this can be done on the ground but its going to make it much harder to line everything up it would be best if you knew someone with a lift
