2006 Bluetooth Cellular?

Recommended Posts

Just curious, I just purchased a new 2006 GS300. I had a 1999 GS 300 prior. I love the new car, but it seems like the cellular phone portion of the navagation system is more of an afterthought.

Why is it that all the other portions seem to incorporate voice commands. You would think that the cellular portion would use these prompts naturally, but there are NONE for the phone. No command to launch the phone, no commands to dial saved numbers, or what about voice recognition to dial a number.

Everthing else on the navagation system has a keyboard entry, why not the phonebook. It seems that there is no way to enter or edit entries for the phone from the car. Unless you use bluetooth to send these entries you are out of luck.

While i am on the topic......because of that I was forced to return my verizon motorola e815, since there was no way to send entries to the lexus phonebook. I got a tmobile v330 now, which does not seem to be as good of a phone, seemingly an older model with less features, besides the phonebook capability.

Although the lexus owners manual speaks of the "p" and "w" keys for dialing for pause and wait function, for the life of me, I cannot get it to work. I have pager numbers and extension numbers programmed into my motorola v330, but when the bluetooth sends them to the lexus, they don't dial with the pause function or the wait function (although it works on the cell phone itself).

I even tried to enter the extension or my cell number (to enter for pager number callback) as a separate 1-touch dial or addressbook entry, but after you dial the initial number or pager#, there does not seem to be any way to get to the phonebook or 1-touch number to launch them. (and you cant enter with the keyboard while driving). Is there any way to enter a string of numbers either automatically, with pause, wait or 1 touch ONCE you have dialed?

Also, it was a real pain in the butt, programming and sending EACH of my 100 phone book entries one at a time. I am hoping the car has some way to save them if the battery goes dead or do you just have to start over again with a blank addressbook?

Any thoughts are appreciated

to get the p pause  or w  wait

perss the * key until it scrolls into that text to add it.

I already have the "p" and "w" saved in the phone number from my cell phone. For the V330, you get a p or w by hitting the menu key when saving the contact record.

I am not sure about the instruction you gave me, is that for dialing on the lexus itself? I have tried holding the * key on the lexus, which seems to result in + key. I have tried with my beeper #, typing in the number, for example 555-1212, and adding the extension I want called back, for example 555-1212+1234567, and it does not seem to work. Additionally, I am trying to make it easy to call or page people and since the lexus does not allow direct dialing while the car is moving, the keypad is not active.

Is there any way to do it from the phonebook entry?
