sarha
I have had a problem with my brakes squeaking on my 400h. The rather loud squeak/squeal occured mostly when I was backing up and was loud enough to attract attention from passers-by. The car has less than 4,000 miles on it. I brought it into the dealer earlier in the week and was told they could find nothing wrong so I asked to speak with the service manager and expressed my dissatisfaction with this. The service manager had me drive back and forth demonstrating the squeak and agreed that the noise was unacceptable. Today i brought the car back to the dealer so that they could investigate the brakes and they discovered the front rotors had cracked. These were replaced. Just FYI, when I asked the service guy why this would happen in a car with so little mileage he told me they had seen a few cases of cracked rotors in the 400h. RX400h
This happens occasionally with heat-treated parts. I doubt that it is a widespread problem or I'm sure others would have had similar issues. Still, it's good that you were persistant. This reminds me of what happened to my father many years ago. After feeling sharp pains in his chest, he went to the hospital, only to be told that he had heartburn and should take an antacid after returning home. He insisted upon seeing a heart specialist who, after running further tests, admitted my father to the hospital immediately for triple bypass heart surgery. The moral of the story: Stand your ground if you know you are right!
LexRexBlue
The past week I've heard (so has my whole block) my brakes squeak when I leave my garage. My driveway is on a hill, but I have no clue why. They never squeak any other time and work fine. Now I'll see if they squeak any other time out of the driveway. A NJ peculiarity??? If it persists I'll bring it in.

After the brake repair, that coasting sensation is gone. It's pratically like driving a gas powered car. I noticed it immediately, but they said just drive it for while and see how it feels. 2000 miles later and still no joy! The dealer claims nothing is wrong eventhought the service tech and I took a new one and mine for a ride. The new one drove like mine used to. The tech even noticed it. Any ideas on what could have happened and how to fix it? This is really got me down. I feel ripped off but Lexus doesn't seem to care. SKperformance
I would not associate "lexus" with a service advisor or a dealership. They maybe be part of a large corporation but work on there own merits. I would contact the service advisor and request a senior tech to inspect the vehicle and note the differences (they have a few in the states from Japan just for the hybrids). If they do not or cannot find a way to resolve it quickly , call lexus head office and ask them to buy it back and give you a new one , i am sure they will try to fix yours rather quickly at that point.
