Nagivation Key Input

I have an 06 LS430. During motion, key inputs on the nagivation screen are de-activated on the display for obvious reasons. Is there a way to over ride this setting? Usually, my wife drives and I like to use the features from the passenger side. Advise.

I saw a override kit on E-Bay in the auto parts section.

I was hoping there was something I could de-activate with a few "special" key strokes. If someone know this can not be accomplished that easily, let me know.
