akewlguy Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Just curious what is the screw size for the plate? Any deals on the little plate? Anyone know the size of the little plate? I want to get a black custom plate.
akewlguy Posted September 17, 2005 Author Posted September 17, 2005 Must be generic size? This may be a stupid question?
blake918 Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Mine are 10mm. I took my plate off the other day to put a piece of velcro behind it so that it doesn't flutter when I close the trunk...who would've thought 50cents of velcro could make me so happy! lol
akewlguy Posted September 18, 2005 Author Posted September 18, 2005 Hell yeah man.. When I get home I am going to get my 50 cent velcro.. That slapping drives me crazy!

1990LS400 Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 After catching someone switching license plates in a parking lot some years back (it's done to disguise stolen cars), I've since used hex head (Allen) bolts to secure license plates to cars. I'm assuming that people who steal license plates are going to have only screw drivers with them and are going to steal plates that are easily removed. The way I keep license plates from rattling (and eliminate damage to the cars) is to put a length of small rubber hose (e.g. windshield washer hose) between the perimeter of my metal plate frame and the car. The hose eliminates all contact between the plate/metal plate frame and the car.
akewlguy Posted September 19, 2005 Author Posted September 19, 2005 Now that is a good idea.. Then throw the little hex in your tool kit. Cheers to LEXUS.. Only three days till I drive mine. I am in lovely Hurricane alley and doing my best to get out before RITA.
bartkat Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Our plates always come with a permanent diagonal warp. I put mine in a half frame and lined the back with a sample of dymomat. It's straight and quiet.
akewlguy Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 You talking about the little front plate?
