twinelmskao Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 inoperable; sometimes it works perfectly. why is that? opinion/advice highly appreciated.
katzjamr Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 This might be too easy but when it is inoperable, are the doors locked? In some rx's the passenger doors must be unlocked before the rear will open.
lexus411 Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 yes you must unlock all doors before the rear hatch opens
Brian G Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 The factory default is that all passenger doors need to be unlocked before the “hatch” can. You can have this changed though in the preferred preference settings so that you can open the hatch with the remote while keeping the doors looked. If you are trying to raise the hatch from inside the vehicle all the doors have to be unlocked though. :) Brian

Can you set this yourself or does lexus have to do it--I would like it where I didnt have to unlock all doors
katzjamr Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 i had lexus change the setting to your preference booyah at my first oil change. my dealer will not charge to have them change settings as long as you dont ask for a new setting every week.
mehullica Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 There is a TSIB for intermittent inoperative back doors for 2004 RX330's. Bad back door ecu's are the problem
Brian G Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Hmmm...didnt know that feature! Can you set this yourself or does lexus have to do it--I would like it where I didnt have to unlock all doors To the best of my knowledge it has to be done by the dealer. Brian
Booyah Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 But now I think this feature is added for 05's and not on 04's? Ill look into it
dsandife Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Please read the response from another member who mentions a TSB (Tech Svc Bulliten). The problem is the ECU, computer chip, that performs this function, fails periodically. I took mine in, and they replace the chip. After 6-8 months, it has never failed again. It is covered under the warranty.
