martialartsguy Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 I Saw A Lexus In The Gallery With Red Pain On His Engine, Just Wondering How To Do That, And What Paint Do I Use, Do I Have To Prep It Before Painting? Looks Really Good.
bbsal Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 they sell engine paint or very high temp paint to do it and theres prep time in any paint job you do to a car.he might have bought them like that though.
jzz30 Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 does anyone think the urethane body paint would hold up to some engine heat??? ;)
martialartsguy Posted July 14, 2003 Author Posted July 14, 2003 it looks like paint, but i cant see it beaning a cover for the engine, just wonding what kinda paint it is?
bluelex Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 well my covers r painted, and the body shop used the paint that was used 2 paint the car and kit. and it has held up fine, those covers don't get as hot as u think... , its been 5 months already and no problems heres a pic
bbsal Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 i would have to think after a year or so that the paint will start to chip away.car paint just aint made to withstand high temps unless its on parts that just dont get that hot. but i would think anything under the hood still gets pretty hot and eventully will chip unless its high temp paint..
bbsal Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 looks awsome though!i hope im wrong and it holds up for you though.
jzz30 Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 well the parts are small so i dont think its that big of a deal to repaint little pannels like that
